Teaching and Learning - Music

Dawson Park primary offers an enriching music program to students from Pre-Primary to Year 6. Classes spend an hour a week learning about music in our society, musicianship and general musical awareness. Students learn to read, write and play music and learn different instruments including, tuned percussion, ukulele, keyboard and guitar.

Dawson Park has a Junior Choir and a Senior choir. Both choirs have opportunities to perform in and outside the school throughout the year. The Senior Choir also presents a musical each year, that is performed at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre.

Students also have the option to learn instruments at the school through PMI (Primary Music Institute) who run lessons at the school once a week and IMSS (Instrumental Music School Services) which students can be selected for.
