At Dawson Park Primary students from Pre-primary to Year 6 participate is Science lessons for 1 hour a week, taught as a specialist subject.
During Science lessons students are provided with the opportunity to explore and gain a greater understanding of the world around them. A variety of resources are used to engage and motivate students to think critically and creatively, exploring different ideas.
Throughout the year our planning is focused on four scientific strands: Biological Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science and Chemical Science. Students are provided with opportunities to ask questions, investigate and conduct experiments based on these four strands.
Science lessons are aimed to foster students’ abilities to work collaboratively with their peers, communicate their understanding of the topics covered and justify their ideas using evidence.
